Pansexual & Panromantic Awareness Day is here 🥳 The 24th of May is a time to cheer for people whose love and care for others know no limits; Pansexual peoples' sexual or romantic attraction is not limited by gender, or gender identity, while our Panromantic friends are the same except without the sexual attraction.There's beauty in the realisation that as modern society progresses and people are able to explore and express their sexuality more openly, we're becoming comfortable moving away from binary gender and are instead more open to the fundamental nature of the shared humanity that unites us despite our differences. I've had the great fortune this afternoon to listen to speakers from Jacobs and the African Rainbow Family discuss LGBTQ+ history.They discussed the lack of collective education for two generations of people due to Section-28, which made it illegal to promote hom*osexuality leading to a ban on teaching and discussion in schools and libraries.The panel shared a need to educate ourselves and others on pivotal LGBTQ+ figures and key historic events as well as the need to make an effort to actively seek this information out, develop our curious minds, and to share this information with others because it isn't widely available 💕I loved what one speaker had to say about educating ourselves and others - "people aren't ignorant, they just haven't had the opportunity to learn".I always feel so blessed and so privileged to attend an event such as this, and to take part in knowledge sharing in a safe, welcoming environment that invigorates my curious mind 🫶🏼#LGBTQAwareness #LGBTQHistory

I'm consistently proud to work here at EDF (UK); contributing to something bigger than myself, supporting colleagues and contractors on the largest construction project in Europe, and working towards Net Zero together 💕Watching us achieve big milestones like this reminds me that the work I do in a back office role is important. It's my belief that the role of HR is to support and look after our colleagues - across every EDF Family - to enable them to bring their best selves to work and to return home to friends and family both psychologically and physically safe. How we treat others impacts their working day, how safely they operate, and how focused and motivated they can be in a safety critical industry. Our names are a powerful tie to our identities, families, culture, and heritage 💕We all know that first impressions matter, so making sure we get pronouns and names right - by sharing ours and inviting others to share - will lead to better communication right from the off! I changed my name to avoid having my birth name mispronounced or misspelled (often intentionally, by bullies who thought the male version of my given name was hilarious) and I feel a stronger tie to Melody than I ever did to my birth name 😊That name was a source of shame and upset for me, and so I distanced myself from who I saw that person as. I had the most amazing time at the The Bank of London Rainbow Honours last night, and got to spend some real quality time with the dazzling Rachel Cruz, Declan Ward, Alistair Kirtley, and Evie Skinner!We celebrated the contributions of so many awesome humans, made new friends, and cheered for the progress we make when we work together 🥳I feel so blessed to be able to do the work that I do for EDF (UK)s LGBTQ+ Supporters Network and it's nights like last night that reinforce what a privelege it is to work alongside this incredible community 🌈💕I would encourage you to be an Active Ally, to learn as much as you can about the triumphs and trials others face, to contribute in meaningful ways, and be part of something awe-inspiring, tear-jerking, and life-affirming!#EveryonesWelcome #LGBTQAwareness #ActiveAllyship

The 17th of May marks #IDAHOBIT, the International Day Against hom*ophobia, Biphobia, and Transphobia. My EDF colleagues joined in championing the International Day of Pink-Journée Rose Internationale in April and have helped to highlight and support IDAHOBIT today with a Mental Health Awareness session.Hosted by David Beales (he/him), we're truly grateful to have been joined by guests from Sizewell C, Westinghouse Electric Company, and Rolls-Royce who shared their their own mental health journeys as it interplays with their identity within the LGBTQ+ Community 🫶🏼💕David also took the time to share the resources and support services that EDF (UK) offer to their employees and their families - such as our Networks, Occupational Health, and AXA Employee Assistance Programme.Discrimination of any kind has no place in the world and we prove this whenever we show up to listen and support our friends and colleagues.#MentalHealthAwareness #LGBTQSupporters #ActiveAllyship
