Getting dunked all day

#1: Feb 29th 2012 at 7:06:16 AM

So... how is your computer set up? I don't mean the actual specs, but what things do you usually use (and/or download if you're on a school computer or something)?

For me, there's...Latest version of Firefox, with the adblock add-on. Always. As of recent, Kee Pass, since it makes me feel super-high tech and secure, even though I'm probably not.Steam, because games.Terraria is my favorite as of recent.TF 2 is always nice.Skyrim because I'm obligated to get that, and it's a good game.

I try to keep my DESKTOP organized. A "games" folder for any old SNES-era or earlier games on emulator, a "picturedump" folder for images I like, a "useful" folder for anything I might need for school (Eclipse, word, etc) and a "stuff I don't care about" for everything else. Anything in those folders are almost completely unorganized, though.

The only thing we have to fear is fear itself. And also spiders.

Hmm...I use Opera for internets, Steam for vidya gaems, GIMP for arts, iTunes for musics, LMMS for musics making, Avast for antivirusing....

That's about it, I think.

I have Vista which I hate with a flaming passion yet don't replace out of lack of means to replace. When dealing with Vista related problems I play Susumu Hirasawa's Vista. P-MODEL makes Vista problems ever so slightly less miserable. How to computer: - TV Tropes Forum (5)

Internet wise I use firefox with noscript.

Music wise I tend to use foobar, it's less hateful than iTunes, or VLC. Or, in the case of chiptunes, chipamp which is a winamp plugin that plays the format chiptunes come in. Namely NSF or SPC. For images I use gimp because I'm cheap as hell. I use open office or my still unregistered copy of microsoft office (I lost the bloody code) for word processor sh*t and so on. I hate both.

Game wise I use any number of emulators, steam, and so on. I also play PSOBB a lot.

My sh*t is organized in a series of folders clearly labeled for their purpose filled with other folders for storing other things in that category. So I have an Emulator folder that has a PSX and NES folder for example. These folders are further organized to cleanly store any and all sh*t I get related to them. Separate folders for different emulators and a folder for RO Ms and IS Os. That sort of thing.

Windows 7 Professional 64-bit, Safari for browsing, Thunderbird for mails, VLC for audio, iTunes to manage my iPod (sadly a moot point ATM) and Paint.NET for image editing needs.

About half of the games I currently play I've got on Steam. The rest is just kind of... installed.

As for my desktop, it's technically overrun with icons, but I've selected to not have them displayed, so the only thing actually there is a decorative little clock app.

Most software is installed on my main drive, photos, downloads, music, etc all go (more or less well sorted) onto the 2TB external. A bunch of image dump folders on there too.

Windows 7 64bit, Windows mail, IE 9 and Fire Fox with the faster fox plugin for browsing. I use Itunes for music, vids, umm Photoshop for image work, Steam for most of my gaming, Netflix for watching series and such, and I use Microsoft Security Essentials for virus scanning, with Spybot S&D and Malware Bytes for extra checking.

Safari for browsing

You are now my fourth-favourite German, Plaz. I'm ashamed.

Anyways, I run Linux Ubuntu 11.10, which I use mostly, alongside Windows 7.

Opera for browsing on Ubuntu and Chrome on Windows (Opera keeps crashing, and Firefox keeps freezing on my Windows partition). Gmusicbrowser on Ubuntu, and Mediamonkey on Windows for music. VLC on both for watching films and DV Ds.

Mediamonkey is a lot better than iTunes and WMP for music, and VLC is pretty good for films and DV Ds. Opera is a godsend. Shame my Windows partition keeps being dickish with it.

Windows 7 somethingorother 64 bit; I have Firefox and iTunes pinned to my taskbar, and they're usually open. I use Soluto to manage my boot process, and it's pretty handy for that. I'm usually on about three IM programs at once, typically MSN, Yahoo, and Google Talk. I also use Steam for gaming once in a while.

My Firefox is absolutely bloated with addons.

I also think, for antivirus and whatnot, I use Avast. Pirated, for irony.

Hopey, download the faster fox plugin for firefox. It gets rid of all the bloat that has been slowing it down and making it run like crap the last year or so.

I use Windows XP (Mainly because I'm just too lazy to upgrade.) as my OS. I used to use Firefox as my browser, but it kept nagging me about security certificates, or... something, and I couldn't get it to stop, so I switched to Chrome.

I use Windows 7 Ultimate as my OS, I browse via Google Chrome with Ad-Block Plus and a few other minor add-ons (mostly things to You Tube and Facebook). On my desktop I have the Recycle Bin, a folder called "Otaku Stuff" (no points for guessing what's in there), Shin Megami Tensei: IMAGINE Online, a eroge game called 3D Custom Girl, and Katawa Shoujo.

As for gaming, I use Steam, while I don't really play a lot of Steam games, I tend to launch my games with it.

I either play Osu or emulate games with zsnesw, Project 64, and nestopia.

I use VLC to listen to music or watch movies.

Oh, I also use GIMP and Paint.NET for pictures.

And I use Windows Live Messenger for IMing.

I also have Firefox installed in case a site doesn't work with Chrome for some odd reason.
